Mystical Pathways: Meditations on the Tree of Life and the Power of Consciousness

This presentation explores a constellation of interconnected mystical traditions, drawing from the Hermetic path of the Flaming Sword through the Tree of Life, the teachings of The Kybalion, early 20th-century Scottish Rite interpretations of the “Law of Attraction,” and Jungian ideas of collective consciousness. The talk also delves into the practice of creative visualization as a means of personal and spiritual transformation.

Rooted in a universalist perspective, these practices are presented as complementary to — rather than in conflict with, existing theological frameworks. Time permitting, attendees will be invited to participate in a guided group meditation on the sephira Malkuth, focusing on themes of grounding, collective healing, and the restoration of the World.

Roger B. Nelson, is a third-generation Mason who was named Washington Freemason of the Year in 2017 and was elected Grand Master of Masons in Washington this past June. He also serves as the Deputy of the Supreme Council of the Scottish Rite in Washington, a role he has held since July of last year. Outside the Craft, Brother Nelson has led an equally dynamic professional life. He launched his broadcasting career at age 17 and went on to spend more than a decade as an investigative reporter at KOMO and KING in Seattle. He later transitioned into management and today works as a senior marketing consultant for seven radio stations and a digital ad agency in Spokane. A self-professed bibliophile with a lifelong appetite for the mystical, he has studied Kabbalah and the esoteric arts for over thirty years. He refers to the meditative practice he’ll be discussing today, rooted in Hermetic and Kabbalistic tradition, as a key part of his personal “spiritual hygiene.”
